Robin Hood's Chase

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robin Hood's Chase is Child ballad 146, and a sequel to Child ballad 145, Robin Hood and Queen Katherine.

[edit] Synopsis

It opens an account of the archery contest in Robin Hood and Queen Katherine, and King Henry (possibly intended as Henry VIII of England) chases Robin to Yorkshire, Newcastle, Berwick, and many more towns. Robin Hood says that perhaps the king is chasing them because the queen wishes to see him, and goes with his men to London. The queen tells him that it is not so, Robin leaves, and on hearing that Robin had come to London looking for him, the king gives up the chase.
