Roberto Stagno

Roberto Stagno (18 October 1840, Palermo, Italy26 April 1897, Genoa, Italy) was an Italian operatic tenor important in the then new operas of the style called verismo at the end of the 19th century. He sang the role of Turiddu in the first performance of Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana on May 17, 1890. His wife, soprano Gemma Bellincioni sang opposite him in the role of Santuzza. Their daughter Bianca Stagno-Bellincioni (1888-1980) was a singer and actress.
