Roberto Carlos Martinez (born April 29, 1983 in El Salvador) is a poet and short story writer. He has been labeled as a modern confessional poet. He currently resides in Virginia. His first poetry book, The Blue-Eyed Monster Dragged Me into Love, was nominated for a 10th Annual Library of Virginia Literary Award in the category of poetry and for a 2007 Indie Excellence Award.
Robert Bausch called Imperfection in a Perfect World "crisp and original and honest."

Martinez was born on April 29, 1983 in El Salvador in the small town of Tierra Blanca, close to Intipuca. He moved to the United States in February of 1992 and has resided in the state of Virginia ever since.
