Robert Moorhouse

Robert Moorhouse was a first class cricketer who played 208 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club between 1888 and 1899. He also played first class cricket for Marylebone Cricket Club (1891-1900) and XI of Yorkshire (1894).

In 217 first class games overall, he scored 5,337 runs at 18.72 on the difficult pitches of the time. He recorded 3 centuries, with his best a knock of 113 against Somerset CCC. His other tons came at the expense of MCC (105) and Warwickshire CCC (102*). He took 49 wickets with his right arm medium pace at a cost of 28.08 apiece, with his best bowling of 4 for 40 coming against Sussex CCC.

He was born on September 7, 1866 in Berry Brow, Huddersfield and died on January 7, 1921 in Taylor Hill in the same Yorkshire town. His brother, Fred Moorhouse, played 117 games for Warwickshire CCC.
