Robert Katz

Robert Katz (born June 27, 1933) is an American novelist, screenwriter, and non-fiction author.[1]

Born in Brooklyn, New York, son of Sidney and Helen (Holland) Katz. Married to Beverly Gerstel, September 22, 1957. Two children: Stephen Lee Katz, Jonathan Howard Katz.

Studied at Brooklyn College 1951-53 then went on to being a photojournalist, filmmaker, United Hias Service, NYC 1953-57. Finally established as a writer beginning at the American Cancer Society in New York (1958-63); United Nations, NYC and Rome, 1963-64 then as a self-employed writer since 1964.

Visiting Professor of Investigative Journalism at the University of California, Santa Cruz, 1986-92; lecturer for various universities. Fellow Guggenheim 1970- ; fellow, Adlai E. Stevenson College; University of California, 1986-92; grantee American Council Learned Societies, 1971; recipient Laceno d'Oro (best screenplay), Neorealist Film Festival, Avellino, Italy, 1983.

Katz lives in Tuscany, Italy.
