Robert Gerald Lorge

Robert Gerald Lorge (born in New London, Wisconsin) is an American lawyer and politician. He is Managing Partner of Lorge & Lorge Law Firm. Lorge was the 2006 Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate in Wisconsin, running against the incumbent Democrat Herb Kohl. Lorge previously was the Republican nominee for the Secretary of State in 2002 and was a candidate for the Senate in 2004.

Lorge agrees with the mainstream Republican party in that he is anti-abortion, anti-gun control and for border protection. He opposes capital punishment. Lorge is credited with being the original author of the plan adopted by Democrat U.S. Senator Joe Biden's 2007 presidential campaign to divide Iraq into three to five provinces to attempt to achieve peace and stability amongst the Kurds in Kurdistan, the Sunnis in the Sunni Triangle and the Shiite majority in the south, as well as a trans-Saudi-Jordanian nation in the Anbar province region and making the Baghdad metro area into a separate state. Lorge is credited with being the first to propose 100% tax credits to fund higher education and healthcare.

Lorge's campaign ads were featured in the National News Media, such as ABC, NBC and CBS as being innovative by mixing humor and special effects with positive issue ads. Lorge was the only U.S. Senate candidate in 2006 to deliver votes for under $1 since the McCain-Feingold campaign reform era. Lorge comes from a large and extended political heritage, his father Gerald D. Lorge was one of the longest serving Wisconsin State Senators and his brother William served as a Wisconsin Representative for 10 years.

Lorge spent several years studying abroad at European institutions, in Germany and England, before returning to complete his degrees at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University Law School. Lorge has both a Juris Doctor and a zoology degree. Lorge is the owner of Capital Hill Farms, Lorge Honeybees, and is the President of Welcome Company. While a practicing Attorney and Farmer and Business Owner, Lorge also is a Mediator for the Better Business Bureau, and a Real Estate Broker at Fortune Real Estate Investments. Lorge was an original founder and investor in many "Dot-Coms" during the late 1980s and 1990s. Lorge is married.
