Robert Ford is a Democratic member of the South Carolina Senate, representing the 42nd District since 1992.

A week before the primary election in South Carolina, Ford, an African-American and a Democrat, announced his support for United States Senator Hillary Clinton. [1] Clinton's chief opponent, United States Senator Barack Obama won the primary by a 2-1 margin garnering more than 80% of the African-American vote.
