Robert Coates is a record producer and recording engineer. He is the owner of Coates Entertainment Group, Inc. and Westwind Studios in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Coates was born in Fort Worth, Texas, but was raised primarily in eastern Tennessee. His hobbies include music, baseball, and martial arts. After several years as a WTF Taekwondo instructor, he moved full-time into the music industry.
His first production company, Tampa Bay, Florida based Symeron Productions, offered recording, multi-media, and production services to local bands and artists. Five years later, Coates opened a similar business, Westwind Studios, in Tarpon Springs, Florida. The company has since relocated to Franklin, Tennessee. Coates has also served as Adjunct Faculty at the International Academy of Design and Technology teaching Bachelor of Recording Arts students.
Coates was listed in Rolling Stone's "1000th Anniversary Edition" for a production he did with the female fronted rock/alternative group KLIK, voted the number one unsigned rock band in 2006 by the magazine's readers. His clients have included Sony/BMG, Coca-Cola, Tammy Gunn and Nathan Stone.
