Robert Carter (English novelist)

Robert Carter (born 1955 in Staffordshire) is an English novelist. His works of fiction include four historical novels (Armada, 1988; Talwar, 1992; Courage, 1995, Barbarians 1998;) and a mythic history trilogy entitled The Language of Stones consisting of the books : The Language of Stones, The Giants Dance and the final book, Whitemantle. These latter books were first published 2004-2006.
Carter was educated in England, Australia and Texas, USA. As an undergraduate he studied astrophysics at Newcastle University, then went on to work for Core Lab an American oilfield services company in the USA, various locations in the Middle East, Zaire and Scotland. He also worked for the BBC in London before becoming a full-time novelist in 1986. He has also written for film and television and authored computer games software.
