From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Rev. Robert Brisco Earée (1846-1928) was a philatelist, known for his studies of philatelic fakes and forgeries.

Earée was educated at Cockermouth Grammar School, a British boys' school in Cumbria, and became a priest in 1871. He followed W. D. Atlee and E. L. Pemberton as the author of a series of articles, 'The Spud Papers' (describing forgeries) in The Philatelist. He also served as philatelic editor of The Bazaar [1875]. Earée compiled the classic Album Weeds or How to Detect Forged Stamps [1882] (3rd revised edition, 1906).

Earée was entered on the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists in 1921. [1]
