Robert Lazaro Andino (born April 25, 1984 in Miami, Florida) is a Major League Baseball infielder for the Florida Marlins. Being a "home-grown" player, he has previously been viewed as Florida's "shortstop of the future". But numerous acquisitions have knocked him out of that role, most recently Hanley Ramirez; Alex Gonzalez; and Dan Uggla.
The term "home-grown" can be interpreted in two ways. First, he came up through the Marlins organization. Also, he is a native of Miami, Florida.
On April 1, 2008, Andino hit a walk-off home run in the 10th inning off New York Mets reliever Matt Wise for his first career home run.[1]
[edit] Future
His long-term future with the team seems unclear with the middle infielders, who have surpassed him on the depth chart.
