Robert Allerton

Robert Allerton (1873-1964), born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, was the son and sole heir of First National Bank of Chicago founder Samuel Allerton. In 1951 he legally adopted as his son his lifelong partner, John Gregg (1899-1985).
The former home of Robert and John Gregg Allerton on Kauai, Hawaii is now Allerton Garden, part of the National Tropical Botanical Garden.
The University of Illinois's Robert Allerton Park near Monticello, Illinois and the botanical journal Allertonia are named after Robert Allerton.
