Robert A. Starr

Robert A. Starr (born December 17, 1942) -- Democratic member of the Vermont State Senate, representing the Essex-Orleans senate district.
Starr was first elected to the Vermont Senate in 2004.

Robert Starr was born in Hartford, Connecticut, on December 17, 1942. He has lived in Troy, Vermont since moving there in 1944. He received an Associate Degree in agriculture from Vermont Technical College.
Starr is married to his wife Anita (formerly Anita Cadieux). The couple has one son.
Starr is president of Starr's United, Inc. (doing business as Starr's Transportation).

Starr was elected to the Vermont House of Representatives in 1978, and served there until 2004. He chaired the House Agriculture Committee from 1985 to 2000.

He was elected to the Vermont Senate in 2004 and was reelected in 2006.

On September 14, 2005, while driving a truck near Trois-Rivières, Quebec for Starr's Transportation, Starr's vehicle, as well as a passenger car, caught fire after the pavement collapsed and they went off the road. The woman driving the car became trapped. Starr's rescue earned him a Goodyear Highway Hero award.[1][2]
