[edit] The Robber Baron Name
At the turn of the century, the United States went through an industrial revolution. Innovations in machinery, steam power, and mills transformed the landscape of the American economy. A few men rose to prominence as the leaders of this revolution, showing the world how to succeed in business in this new age. J.P. Morgan (banking), Andrew Carnegie (steel, railroads), and John D. Rockefeller (oil), were among the men that lead this revolution. They became known as the Robber Barons.
The latter half of the 20th Century into the 21st Century marked a digital revolution. Digital technology altered the landscape of business as significantly as machinery did during the industrial revolution. Despite these changes the established entertainment industry was slow to adapt and continued to utilzie outdated business models.
The Robber Baron name pays omage to these leaders of the industrial revolution and their pivital role in showing the United States how to become an industrialized nation.
