Robert Konrad (born November 12, 1976 in Rochester, New York) is a former American football fullback of the National Football League. He was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the second round of the 1999 NFL Draft. He played college football at Syracuse.
[edit] Early years
He played High school football at St. John's Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts.
[edit] College career
Konrad is the last Syracuse football player to wear the number 44. After he graduated from Syracuse the number went unused, being offered to at least one player who turned it down. During the 2005 season the number 44 was officially retired, never to be worn again by a Syracuse football player.
The Syracuse University community remembered Konrad well after he left, naming a Marshall Street bar after him. The bar was one of the most popular among students in the early 2000s, but was closed down in 2004.
