Rob Fowler

Rob Fowler is a very well-known meteorologist in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

[edit] Meteorologist with WCBD

Rob Fowler became a meteorologist for WCBD in Charleston, SC in 1985. Before this, he was at WBAY in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He became Chief meteorologist in 1987. Fowler has won many national awards for his great work.


[edit] Hurricane Hugo

Fowler stayed in Charleston, against his wishes, before, during, and after Hurricane Hugo in 1989. He also gave a special report of the hurricane after it passed about the destruction and the hours leading up to the disaster.

In 2004, Fowler reported that he was having kidney pains. Soon after, doctors discovered that his kidneys were failing. He was sent to the hospital for immediate transplant soon after. In about a month, Fowler was back at News 2. Fowler has also had cancer once before.


[edit] Shaving the mustache

In May of 2007, Rob Fowler announced that he was going to shave off his famous moustache for the American Cancer Society. The moustache is gone, and Fowler is not planning on growing it back soon.
