The Project Galileo observatory consists of a Technical Innovations Robodome, 10 inch Meade LX200 SCT main telescope, and 4 inch Skywatcher refracting telescope.

The former has various imaging cameras attached, including:

  • a Genesis16 homebrew CCD camera with KAF0401E imaging chip (for imaging nebulae, galaxies, comets & asteroids)
  • Phillips Toucam Pro 740k webcam (for planetary imaging)
  • 128-frame summing low-light CMOS-based camera, aka an Astrocam (for live web-based viewing of the night sky)

The Skywatcher 'scope also has an Astrocam attached, along with a 0.5x focal reducer for wide-field imaging, yielding a field of view of about 0.5 degrees. The main 'scope backend contains a 7 position filter-wheel, which contains the following filters:

clear, red, green, blue, Hydrogen alpha & a low-resolution diffraction grating for spectroscopy.

More information about the project can be found in the en:Project Galileo wikipedia entry.
