Thank you for converting html to math in linear independence. Usually people indeed prefer to have LaTeX for big formulas which are displayed on their own line. And since you are new, I thought I would tell you how people in general think about this formula business. According to the math style manual, html formulas which are inline (that is, in the same line with text) better be left that way if the analogous LaTeX formulas become images (which happens for complicated LaTeX). So, your edit was good and appreciated, but think twice before converting to TeX inline html :) Welcome! Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 19:46, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for your comments. I confess that I haven't (yet) read the math style manual - I made the changes to TeX simply because I thought it looked better. But in my defense, the formulas I edited were not inline. Roachmeister 20:02, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Right, of course, you did the right thing. :) I was just trying some silly preemtive attack (often times people mess up with math formulas and you discover it way too late. :) And about the math style manual, take your time. :) If you have any questions, feel free to write on my talk page. [edit] How do you like "Awful" AFB?
I spent a couple of years there myself in the late '90s. How do you like it? El Cubano 00:33, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- Actually I like it just fine. Offutt is better than the negative hype, in my opinion. People always complain that there's nothing to do in Omaha, and maybe that's true of the "night life," but I was never much of the club type anyway. And STRATCOM is, on most days, a cool place to work, especially now that they've taken on a much larger mission than they used to have. Roachmeister 14:37, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
- I actually liked the laid back atmosphere. I was not into clubbing or any of the common night life activities. What I hated was the cold weather. Though, the deployments to warmer locales helped. El Cubano 15:23, 3 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Dali edits
Hi. I was wondering why you repeatedly changed the phrase "Young Virgin" to a series of "###" in the Salvador Dali article. -- Infrogmation 16:23, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize for that. I run "Net Nanny" on my home computer, and it automatically blocks what it considers to be "dirty words." I didn't realize at the time that it had blocked words in the entry.Roachmeister 18:12, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thanks for the explanation. As that was phrase was part of the actual title of one of Dali's works, you can see that such a change was not appropriate. I hope you'll be able to adjust or work around the filter appropriately. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 18:55, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
- As you can hopefully see from my list of contributions, I'm generally a very consciencious editor. I have turned off that feature of Net Nanny, so it shouldn't cause any more problems.Roachmeister 02:04, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] USAF and other stuff
AFSTRATCOM - is that anything like working on the Looking Glass flights while I was stationed at Ellsworth? That was an experience.... Nothing like having to show your badge 2 million times just to get to work!
My last base was Minot AFB (working under SAC on the BUFFs here as an Old Crow) where I bought a house in the local area (3700 sq.ft. on 2½ stories for $24,900!), met my wife (still a babe!!), finally convinced her to marry me, had 4 kids (2 boys, 2 girls), 5 cats (all err, unusual, in some respect or another), 1 dog (a truly odd mixed bag-o-blessings boxer/APBT), 2 businesses (1 went bankrupt because I blindly put my trust in a person that didn't deserve it, the other still operating), and a "partridge in a pear tree"....
Sorry for the slow reply to your intro on my talk page. Things around here have been a little hectic trying to manouver around a birthday, illnesses, Thanksgiving, Christmas, kids plays and concerts, and other life stuff that comes up. Still no excuse for rudeness, but just an explanation as I throw myself to your mercy for forgiveness! 8>) NDCompuGeek 16:57, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- Actually I'm not a flyer at all, but rather a Space guy. In 2002 they merged the old USSPACECOM into USSTRATCOM, and I came along as part of the new space mission.
- Don't worry about the slow reply - I certainly understand being busy! Roachmeister 19:18, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] RFC (Request For Comments)
Roachmeister- I have made a couple proposals at the US Military History task force site (USAF category tree proposal and US Air force and US Army portal proposal). I think they might interest you, and I would really like it if you could look them over and tell me what you think. Thanks! -Dan AKA NDCompuGeek 03:20, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] USSPACECOM
I hope you don't mind being "volun-told" to work on the article.... 8^) -Dan AKA NDCompuGeek 23:55, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Blocking information
It looks like you got caught by one of our autoblocks, which last for 24 hours. If you ever find yourself blocked you will still be able to edit your own talk page, and the best thing to do is follow these instructions which is much faster than trying to email the blocking admin. Please keep up your good contributions to Wikipedia, it is always a shame when good users get blocked like this. Cheers, NoSeptember 00:18, 15 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Proposed Baptist group
There now is a proposed project to deal specifically with articles relating to Baptists at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals#Baptists. If you would be interested in joining such a group, please indicate as much by adding your name there. Thank you. John Carter 19:09, 19 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Royal Variety Page
Just wanted to say thanks for cleaning up the lists on the Royal Variety page. I added the notice as I didn't feel experienced enough to do it myself (and had no idea of how to go about it), but looking at it now I'd like to just say well done on such a good clean up :)
