[edit] Template image

I've reverted the image to the old "highway shield" one. The reason? The new image was very large, and even at that size it was impossible to tell what it was (at a guess, a wheel arch? It just looked like an undistinguished piece of curved metal!). There was nothing wrong with the old image, which was smaller, and said "road" a lot more clearly. However, if there's a good argument for the other one, then feel free to re-revert... Grutness|hello? 08:29, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

It's literally a "road stub". A small bit of unused elevated road. --SPUI (talk) 09:35, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I still can't make head nor tail of the picture (which is much too big). Is this some of the curved edge of it? Some of an arched support? (But thank you for my new word of the day - I'd never previously heard of unused flyover lanes being called road stubs) Grutness|hello? 10:31, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

It's an aerial photo (click on it for a larger image). I've seen them called ramp stubs or simply stubs many times, though never specifically "road stub". --SPUI (talk) 10:53, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Ah. Got it now. Grutness|hello?

I still have to agree with Grutness' original confusion. SPUI's picture is very clever but not particularly clear.BenFrantzDale 06:48, Mar 2, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Changed wording

I've made a slight change in the wording to reflect that 90+ % of the articles with this stub are about roads, not road transport. Grutness|hello? 10:09, 25 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Ive taken the "road transport" bit out completely. those stubs should be marked with {{vehicle-stub}}. BL Lacertae - kiss the lizard 22:42, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] New image

Great new image. BenFrantzDale 00:13, Mar 9, 2005 (UTC)

Thanks. I was going for something a lot more stylised, as something that small can't be an intricate depiction of a real road stub! Plus the curve is a nice effect. zoney talk 11:03, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)
