Someone should address this with an in-depth analysis. No movie where the villain says "I used to fuck guys like you in prison" when he has the protagonist in a headlock from behind can be considered straight. First of all, Wikipedia editors are not supposed to write in-depth analyses. They are supposed to write material that summarizes already published information. Second, one scene in which one character says one line that is likely a taunt capitalizing on a social expectation of prison behavior, hardly makes homoeroticism (note the correct spelling) a theme worth discussing in this article. First off, way to be the stereotypical pompous Wikipedia guy. Maybe if you have actually seen this movie and understand it, you would realize that while I picked one scene there are many other scenes that make the movie homoerotic. There are plenty of Wikipedia entries on movies that examine themes, social impact, etc., all of which go beyond summaries. Secondly, I was joking. If someone seriously wrote an in-depth analysis of homoeroticism in Road House I wouldn't know whether to laugh or cry. Rick Rossovich 20:38, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

Some people watch films like Road House for the moral issues, or the conflict between classes. Some enjoy a good set of barroom brawls. Some see homoeroticism. Some watch them to laugh at the corny dialog. As the saying goes, what one brings to a work of art is an important element in how one views the work. I apologize for missing your joke, but what I bring to talk pages that ask for "analyses" is a tired familiarity with others' desires to turn Wikipedia articles into blogs about their subjects. Just a heads-up, Chet808 did some editing on Land of the Lost (1974 TV series) characters and species that mixed plausible-sounding details with what appeared to be crude sexual humor that wasn't present in the source material. His recent edits here seems similar in style, but I'm not familiar with this movie so I can't fully judge. Would someone who's seen the movie recently or who's otherwise more knowledgeable than I check this please? Bryan Derksen 07:44, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

I'll be happy to defend my edit's of this classic movie. Everything I added happened in the movie. Hell, I even left out some of the more sordid details ("...you gonna be my Saturday night special ?"). Anyone familiar with [Road House] will agree. --Chets808 15:38, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

No offense to the contributors, but I think the plot summary needs a major reworking. Details are all out of chronological order, and non-neutral comments are scattered throughout. --Enigmatick 20:55, 30 October 2007 (UTC)

I did some of the cleanup and re-worked some of the order as best I can remember. I think the article can do without the unnecessary sexual references, homo or hetero. Kbfixit (talk) 15:46, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disappointment

The second paragraph states, "After its initial modest box office reception and mixed reviews from critics, many considered the film a disappointment, especially considering the phenomenal success of Swayze's Dirty Dancing." Why would a movie budgeted for $10 million that grossed $30 million be considered a disappointment?
