Roaring Creek Township, Avery County, North Carolina
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Roaring Creek Township is a township located in Avery County, North Carolina, United States. It is named after the Roaring Creek that descends from the Tennessee - North Carolina border in the northwest to Route 19E.
The Roaring Creek was originally named "Roan Creek", after nearby Roan Mountain, Tennessee, but the turbulent waters led some settlers to adopt the homonymic name, "Roaring Creek", possibly in a case of mistaken pronunciation.[1]
