While York Road approaches Towson in a mostly northbound direction from Baltimore city, the road curves to the northwest as it branches off from the Towson Circle. Most of the road is known as Bosley Avenue.

Located on the Towson Bypass are the Baltimore County Courts Building and the northeast side of the Towson University campus.
