Road signs in Singapore closely follow those laid down in the traffic sign regulations used in the United Kingdom, although a number of changes over the years have introduced some slight deviations from British practice.

Warning signs warn of possible dangers or unusual conditions ahead and alert motorists on the hazards to expect. Below are some of the signs used.

Prohibitory signs prohibits certain vehicles or actions on the road. Below are some of the signs used.

All restrictive signs are circular and have a red border with a white background. These signs restrict certain vehicles which do not comply with the limits displayed on the signs.

Mandatory signs give orders with which motorists must comply. Below are some of the signs used.

Temporary work-zone signs are displayed in the vicinity of road works or construction projects affecting the normal flow of traffic. Temporary signs have black lettering on an orange background; warning signs are diamond-shaped and information signs are rectangular. Below are several examples.

  • Signs indicating destinations reached via expressways have white lettering on a blue background.
  • Signs indicating destinations reached via other roads have white lettering on a green background.
  • Signs indicating local destinations have black lettering on a white background.
