RNIB College, Loughborough

The RNIB College is a college located in Loughborough, England. It specialises in helping young people and adults with visual impairments and other disabilities to develop skills and abilities to help them progress in life.
Situated on Radmoor Road, the RNIB College has built up strong links with its neighboring Loughborough College, and other local work and educational establishments. This means that students can follow mainstream courses on one campus, whilst receiving specialist help from the RNIB staff.

The college offers classroom support for those students who require it; learning assistants perform a range of tasks such as note-taking, reading, or simply sitting nearby to act as a backup if required. A transcription service is also available for students to have learning materials put into appropriate formats, such as Braille, large print, coloured paper, or oral formats.
Specialist lessons are also provided, enabling students to learn or improve upon reading Braille, using computer reading systems such as JAWS, and performing daily tasks such as cooking and cleaning.
The aim of all support is to enable students to develop independence and confidence in their abilities.
