Browser wrapping issue?
Linca, what weird browser are you using? This version wraps just fine in Firefox, Opera and Safari. The change to WP:ALBUM is fine, but the change to Wikipedia:WikiProject Music/Related WikiProjects just makes the text center-aligned, which is arguably more difficult to read. --PEJL 05:43, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
Donkin query
Hey, someone with multiple socks is removing the reference to Alister Donkin from Powderfinger. Now I've looked into it a bit and it seems likely that this character is, indeed, a hoax. What do you think? The Rambling Man 09:22, 5 September 2007 (UTC)
- Are you saying you believe that Alister Donkin is a hoax? I don't think this is correct, though I'm happy to double check sources to verify. --lincalinca 13:41, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- I was asked to remove it by someone claiming to be Alister Donkin who says he was never anything to do with the band. I also found a thread about it on a Powderfinger blog... If you could check it that would be great because at the moment I haven't blocked a user who is persistently using socks to remove the information because it may be a hoax after all. Cheers! The Rambling Man 13:43, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- It wouldn't entirely suprise me if there was more than one Alister Donkin, after all, it appears there's [more than one Lincoln Maurice http://www2.cslb.ca.gov/CSLB_LIBRARY/Personnel+Detail.asp?LicNum=659980&SeqNumber=559525], so the person could well be jumping to conclusions. We'll look into it (and by we, I mean I'll bring it to the attention of the project) and will seek to resolve the matter. Would you mind providing me the Blog address? --lincalinca 13:46, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- For sure. Ironically the blog is actually discussing the article! You can find the thread here. Cheers! The Rambling Man 13:49, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- They mention their "instensive" research. LOL. I'll see if I can find another third party source on the matter. With the whole Great Divide tour, there's a whole lot of press coverage at the moment (such as a cover of Drum Media fo Cogs, for instance)}, so there might be something of a mention in there somewhere. --lincalinca 13:56, 7 September 2007 (UTC)
- That would be good. For the moment the material with Donkin in has been removed by the sockmaster and I'm prepared to give him some latitude until we can resolve it. Cheers again. The Rambling Man 13:57, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

- I've been working on this and haven't had any luck with the matter yet. Nothing "official" seems to mention him (though, by the same toek, nothing official mentions Bishop). My inclination is that he was actually a singer before Haug joined the group and before the name was Powderfinger, but as I couldn't find anything to confirm that, I didn't put it in the article when we submitted it to you for GAC. I'll still look. There's bound to be something about somewhere. --lincalinca 09:38, 9 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey Linca, I just noticed that List of Crowded House awards is a FL now. Congrats! You are doing good work! Johnfos 03:05, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

- No, sadly. I wanted to find a free pic of the 97 ARIAs, since that's kind of an ideal award era for the group, as well as one I used to have one of (stupid Canberra fires). lincalinca 06:13, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:AwareRecords.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:49, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Please do not introduce incorrect information into articles. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you believe the information you added was correct, please cite references or sources or discuss the changes on the article's talk page before making them again. If you would like to experiment, use the sandbox. Thank you. Alientraveller 15:31, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
- I've reviewed IESB.net and USA Today, and from my perspective, the latter is more reliable than the former, having a reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight. Not to say that the newspaper couldn't be wrong, but it is definitely a source that is more acceptable than IESB.net. I've checked the prominence of IESB.net at Google News Search just in case, and it appears that only other movie sites link to IESB.net. I understand that you meant well and did not consider your contribution an act of vandalism. Fellow editors and I encounter a lot of additions of material from questionable sources, so if my revert was brusque, I apologize. I would suggest waiting for a reliable source to emerge with verifiable coverage -- it is not possible to gauge the credibility of the anonymous sources with whom IESB.net has been in touch. Let me know if you have any follow-up questions on this matter. —Erik (talk • contrib) - 13:36, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

- Well, where did you see that the interview was fabricated? This may be a matter to bring up on the talk page; there are editors who frequent the article more often than I do. Also, does the article from Empire identify Cate Blanchett's role in the film? —Erik (talk • contrib) - 13:45, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Well then, you must be talking about Aussie Empire. Alientraveller 14:27, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Crocker edits
Hi, thank you for leaving that note, I tried to leave a concise explanation so future editors can hopefully incorporate those "see also"'s as appropriate. Benjiboi 13:55, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- That's fair enough, but I don't see them as being appropriate (in particular, articles like Tila Tequila, where the only thing they have in common is that they're net celebs). The list of net celebs is the only one I see as being applicable, as it's hard to link to a list in prose, however peoples names and general topics can easily be. I note that you've added some suggestions as to how this could be done. Why don't you just incorporate these into the article (even just as they are) and remove them from there, leaving only the List link there. I'm not going to do very much with this article, to be honest. I just have a few pet peeves when several paragraphs are sequential with only one sentence in each, and there were a few other non-related things I edited. I may pop over ever so often, but I'm not going to peer for too long. --lincalinca 14:05, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes we have some stylistic differences but both can work to a degree. Tila Tequila is also a LGBT internet celeb (a pretty massive one) and both her and Crocker simply have millions of people around the world paying attention to them and hanging on their every word - it's quite amazing on some levels. I do hope to incorporate those links inline but I also have to do it over time as each piece takes time and I try to write it well enough that it sticks and isn't mis-edited to where the ref link is completely wrong or the narrative doesn't work. My immediate goal was to save from AfD and I think that's looking good for now. Thanks for your suggestions. Benjiboi 14:29, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

Hey friend! Orphaned non-free media (Image:The Predators.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:The Predators.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:45, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Category:Lists of awards by musician
Your request to speedy rename Category:Lists of awards by musician failed, because it was contested and didn't clearly meet WP:CSD C.2. You are welcome to relist this as a regular WP:CFD. Thanks.-Andrew c [talk] 22:20, 17 September 2007 (UTC)
Smoking moralism
When I wrote most of what is now smoking, I based most of it on a very good anthology about smoking called Smoke: A Global History of Smoking. It's a book of essays by many authors, and the ones who comment on the issue of early criticism against smoking are in complete agreement; criticism against smoking before the 20th century was almost entirely based on moralistic arguments.
Peter Isotalo 08:35, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Just because a book was written doesn't make all of its allegations true. The extent truth of such almanacs is from hearsay at best. For instance, notable Christians of this era and later eras, such as Smith Wigglesworth and JRR Tolkien both at times in their writings of their endeavours and lives mention having pipes. Wigglesworth is considered to be something of a revolutionary radical of the time, but still in a conservative time, for the common belief moralistically to be a smoker and for him to smoke is an unbelievable paradox that I believe would be considered rather contemptuous. I suggest finding reliable third party sources to support your allegation in the article. I'm not a smoker and I think it's pretty stupid, to be honest, but history and facts are that there're no moral grounds upon which smoking is forbidden (though, arguably, it's causing damage to the body, considered the temple of the Holy Spirit for Christians, but that's as contentious a point of view as tattoos being sacreligious). When I refer to a reliable third party source, I'm not saying your's in unreliable, but this fact I don't believe and would like a less dubious confirmation. lincalinca 08:56, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
Uhm, an anthology on the history of smoking is a third party source. You're the one who isn't providing a source to support your statements. Just referring to the actions of modern authors and your own personal analysis of Christian ethics doesn't exactly do the trick.

List of Powderfinger awards
Hi Linca. I noticed that you worked on List of Crowded House awards, which was a successful FLC, and I was wondering if you would be able to provide some comments and suggestions to help improve List of Powderfinger awards to featured list status, either at its peer review or in a reply to this message. Take care, Sebi [talk] 07:03, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
FAC
Hey there! Thanks again for the GA review of Cillian Murphy. I'm currently participating in my first FAC review, Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Emma Watson, and I seem to be the only person who's reading the article carefully against the FA criteria. I'm wondering if I'm being too picky or if others are simply voting support without reading closely, and thus I would love to have a careful reviewer such as yourself take a look at the progress of the FAC review and the article and weigh in. I don't want to be the only one blocking an article that should be approved as FA due to my inexperience as a reviewer, yet I feel like my article fell under much stricter scrutiny in GA candidacy and peer review than Emma Watson is receiving in FAC. I know that I've already helped the editors improve some factual and organizational sloppiness and an instance of plagiarism, but issues of awkward writing and tangents, a lack of critical and box office information, and an overreliance on the subject as the main source remain. It would be helpful to get another outside opinion. If you have time, please take a look. --Melty girl 16:56, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'd be happy to have a look, but at the moment, I'm offline a bit because I'm sick and when I'm at work at the moment, I've been pretty busy. I'll read through when I have the chance, but I don't believe I'm the best person to review for FA, since I'm more aware of the GA guidelines than FA. My understanding is that GA provides a stable basis for expansion to lead towards a more comprehensive article which is an FA. For some reason, I'm been somewhat unsuccessful with articles going to FA, despite several towards GA. I'll have a thorough look over it tomorrow, though, and forward any feedback I have. If I can't find fault with it, then your adjustments since I passed the GA (which I've occasionally skimmed over and have been impressed with) would be the explanation as to why the FA is receiving so much support. I'll let you know in the next few days. --lincalinca 03:23, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. Just so we're clear, I was asking you to take a look at Emma Watson, not Cillian Murphy. And I'm a reviewer not an editor. I seem to be the only one matching the article against the FA criteria, and since you're a good reviewer, I wanted to see if you'd be open to taking a look... Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Emma Watson. --Melty girl 05:09, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I misunderstood. I'm not 100% at the moment and not everything's coming in as clearly as it should. Sorry, but I'll have a look. I'm not that familiar with Emma Watson (is she the girl from Harry Potter?) so I may not be able to provide an understanding of her background outside of what the article shows, but I'll do my best to familiarise myself with the article and its sources. It may take me a little longer than were this Cillian Murphy we were talking about because of my lack of familiarity. --lincalinca 06:49, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
- Sounds good. I'm actually not familiar with Watson either (yes, she's from HP), but there were obvious small factual errors and organizational and style issues that were easy to spot when I started reviewing. BTW, I will probably submit Cillian Murphy for FAC today or tomorrow, if you'd like to review. --Melty girl 15:24, 21 September 2007 (UTC)

I Can See Clearly Now
Hi Linca. Neil Finn released a cover version of this song to raise money for The Fred Hollows Foundation. I've made an alteration on the page to reflect this. - Dizrythmia 02:59, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
AWB typo fixing
Thanks for the hard work on fixing typos with AWB! I noticed that you also fixed typos in others' comments in RFA debates. Please disable typo fixing outside the main (article) space, because editing others' comments tends to annoy people. Cheers, Melsaran (talk) 08:51, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, my bad. I accidentally clicked "save" instead of "ignore" a couple of times. I'm skipping them now, though. --lincalinca 10:40, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
Delirium Veil
Well, I'm sure Twilightning fans will be delighted with your work. (Truth be told, I've never heard anything of theirs; maybe this will inspire me to check it out, although I've never been much for the Finnish metal scene...) Chubbles 10:16, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

John Frusciante discography FLC
I'm wondering if you'd be willing to offer a final response to your comments on the Frusciante discography FLC. Your recent contributions indicate that you've been active within the hour, which would in turn indicate that you're aware of the FLC's latest comments. Unfortunately, it's become clear that your request for reference reformatting will not be honored, so I must ask you to be so kind as to cast a final vote of "support" or "oppose" and a reason why. This would be greatly appreciated by all involved parties. Thanks. Grim 06:21, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- I just need one last comment from you and then we can all move on. Much obliged. Grim 06:47, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
An example of Harvard referencing guidelines: [1]. I believe the problem here is that you are confusing the "page numbers" and "References section" sections at WP:HARV. The inline citations inserted via the ref tags would fall under the "page numbers" guideline and "References section" would apply to the article section of the same name. Note the detail of information provided inline (the examples listed at WP:HARV: "According to Jessica Benjamin, one weakness of radical politics has been 'to idealize the oppressed' (Benjamin 1988:9)." and "Jessica Benjamin has argued that radical politics has been weakened. (Benjamin 1988:9)."). WesleyDodds 09:03, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
- More importantly, the article doesn't use Harvard referencing, it uses MLA referencing. Detail here: [2]. WesleyDodds 09:10, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
