[edit] Your recent edits
Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 00:26, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/newton
I updated the page at Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/newton with an alternative that addresses your reason for opposing the Featured status of this picture. [edit] Re The process of Nominating Pictures
Hi Rj1020,
Thanks for your questions - I know the process can be a little detailed for new users (it took me some time to figure it all out at first!).
In short:
- Nominate your picture.
- It stays up for about a week. If it gets at least four supports and a consensus, it will be promoted.
- Once promoted it gets:
-
- Put in the archives as promoted (or not promoted).
- Given the Featured Picture template - see here for example (note the star at the top and the FP template below the picture).
- Permanently entered into Wikipedia:Featured pictures.
- Permanently entered into Wikipedia:Featured pictures thumbs.
- Listed at Template:Announcements/New featured content.
- Listed at Wikipedia:Goings-on.
- Eventually made Picture of the day (in most cases).
That's about it I think. Anyway keep trying. And if you want, try out Wikipedia:Picture peer review to get some feedback before nominating at FPC. Cheers, --jjron (talk) 07:35, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Thank you
Dear Rj1020,
May I please thank you for nominating my image of Golden Gate Bridge in fog fo FP? It is great you like the image. The thing is that the quality of the image is very, very bad, so I voted to speedy close the nomination. It is never going to pass. Please do not get upset with me that I do not support my own image, but the quality is really far off FP requirements. I'll try to take a better picture next time I see it. Thank you for your time and for everything.--Mbz1 (talk) 16:20, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] POTD scheduling
Hi and thanks for your efforts in scheduling the POTD. However, the image you selected for April 20, has already appeared as POTD (February 7, 2006). Currently, we are so backlogged with Featured Pictures there is no real need to rerun any of them. Thus, I've deleted the template (makes it easier for me to re-create it later). Sorry! howcheng {chat} 05:08, 1 April 2008 (UTC)
Hi again. The image you selected for May 22 was a replacement for a previous FP, which already appeared as POTD (Template:POTD/2007-01-07), so I will probably not be using this one. Regards, howcheng {chat} 16:21, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
