[edit] Size of Greek population

I know in pre-1974 the Greek population had been he vast majority of the town's population. But the number has dwindled, the last number I read was stated at approx. 500 people (Rizokarpaso must have about 5,000 people now, ?). Does anyone know the current situation? The article says the Greek population (back then about 3,000, ?) couldn't flee to South Cyprus, but so many left over the years, mainly for economic reasons (the Turkish part of Cyprus had a much lower economic standard that the Greek part). Another issue was schooling, now finally there is a small Greek high school, it started a few years ago. The question is, whether the community can survive. Anyone has the latest news (maybe even someone from the community)?
