[edit] Laurel and Wading River

From our maps it appears as though Laurel is completely in Southold and Wading River is completely in Riverhead. Does anyone have indications that they cross town boundaries? Backspace (talk) 06:09, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Of what maps do you speak? If you look on each town's website, they provide a list of the villages and hamlets within them, and usually if it is only a part of the hamlet. --Zimbabweed (talk) 06:12, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
I am referring to the top maps at both the Laurel, New York and Wading River, New York articles, both of which, I believe, were obtained from the Census Bureau. Backspace (talk) 18:56, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Laurel and Wading River are not incorporated so they do not have formal legal boundaries. In such cases the Census Bureau tries to keep unincorporated areas wholely within one jurisdiction or the other that it is counting. Americasroof (talk) 19:49, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
