Rivers, Manitoba

Rivers is a small town in the Canadian province of Manitoba that is located 40 kilometres northwest of Brandon. Rivers had a population of 1,119 people in the 2001 census. It is entirely encircled by the Rural Municipality of Daly in the Westman Region (Southwestern Manitoba). The town is well known for its successful local sports teams, and the Elders who own 4 houses and ]are known around to be the best drinkers who have been living there since 1993 to present(2008). and consists of an elementary school (Kindergarten - Grade 6), and high school (Grade 7 - Grade 12). Rivers is also 473 metres above sea level. Rivers is part of the Rolling River School Division. It is also home to Lee's Restaurant which has been touted as having the best Chinese food in Manitoba.

Former mayor of Rivers, Dave Oakey, started the annual Homecoming Jam that takes place in the summer. The Homecoming Jam consists of a variety of events, the most popular being the street hockey tournament where teams compete for the Stanley Can .

Just recently RCI (High School) hosted the very first Rivers Spring Carnival which took place in and outside the school. Approximately 500 people came and partook in the events.

For decades Rivers Collegiate has been praised for its outstanding sports programs, including Volleyball, Basketball, and Baseball.

home of 2005 A/AA high school hockey provincial champions. The Rivers Rams high school sports teams have had the Title of the Best in Manitoba on several occasions and some would say that they still are.
