[edit] Chaminda

Example unnecessarily long. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Amiladm (talkcontribs) 6 October 2007 (UTC)

Agreed. Make it short. This page is now huge anyway. We need to break it down to smaller pages Ritigala Jayasena 05:33, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ane Manda Sarath

Should be separated from the phrase "Duka Thamai Ranjanee". I didn't do it becuase I'm clueless about the explanation that follows. I guess the real origin of the phrase is an old (1980's) TV & radio advertisement. (Husband says that the newly washed shirt does not look nice. Wife replies: "Aney Manda Sarath"..? I used the best soap. Then an animated bird introduces the advertised material.)

Please change accordigly. The description is due to my lack of understanding about the origin of the phrase. Ritigala Jayasena 08:44, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Equating to Animals

section may need a major rearrangement. I think it is better if someone can put it in tabular form, listing the Phrase, Animal (in English), and Feature which caused to use that animal name. It is unclear why someone is called a 'Nariya' or 'Gerandiya' and I think that should be mentioned in an article like this.--Amiladm 06:23, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ae Ae Banisata Ae Ae Keselgedi

I am not sure whether this term should be allowed in this article. If so how about "Nai kaida ros paan", "Kawada kaapu takaranda" etc.? --Amiladm 08:20, 14 October 2007 (UTC)

Well, I am in the opinion that all such slang should be documented. Rather than a standard Wikipedia article, this article now looks more like a dictionary of slang. Therefore, we will anyway have to do a distilled version of this, if we are ever going to have a Wikipedia article called "Sinhala Slang". We may need to use current article as just a referance. Therefore, in my opinion there is no harm including all that. Ritigala Jayasena 15:27, 15 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Slang Refering to Situations

Some words included here are not always desirable or undesirable. Those are used more commonly in the given type of situations and less commonly in the opposite type of situations. (e.g.: Maarai, Siraa, Huta Pata) Such words are better to be considered 'Neutral. (I'll try to give examples if necessary.) Amiladm 09:29, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

Agreed, and why you don't you put that exact explanation in the article itself Ritigala Jayasena 13:06, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
