SANTANU BANERJEE

                       Santanu Banerjee, a native of Kolkata is an well known name in Journalism & Mass Communication. Born on 2nd January 1976 in a family known for Educational heritage. His ancestors had immigrated from Paranimandol, now in Bangladesh to Dumdum following the religious riot in 1947 which resulted in the partisan of India. His family was known as ‘ PATHAK BARI ’ in Bangladesh. He was a descendant of great religious reformer Kalachand Vidyalankar & Mahim Chandra Vidyasagar. His Father is Sri Pran Krishna Banerjee & mothr is smt. Kalpana Banerjee
       Being a Reporter he was associated with Doordarshan Kendra Kolkata, All India Radio as freelancer. He was a staff Reporter of Channel Siti ( Zee Network ). Now he is working as Academic Co-ordinator , Dept. of Mass Communication & Videography, Vidyasagar University.His responsibility includes delivery of class lectures and over all management of the department. 

He is an Examiner of Calcutta University for Journalism & Mass Communication and member of Post Graduate Board of Studies, Journalism & Videography : Vidyasagar University.

                 While working as a Reporter, besides collection of daily news he was the host (anchor) and researcher, contributing for several programmes, some of which are, (1) Ward Panchali (Talk-show of the Councilors with their oppositions about the problems in their locality and the way out) (2) Gunagar Kaun, - an investigating reporting on the victims of social atrocities children and poor people (3) Rahasya (Thriller on spirits) (4) Citi Sarokar, a programme concerning the problems with the town (5) Pratibedan, a 15 min radio talk about the most important event of the week etc. Was associated with a research work on the life of Late Konika Bandyopadhyay, the eminent Rabindra Sangeet Singer, which was published as “Konika” from ‘Sristi’ publication in 2001at Film Fashion magazine as a film critic.Contributed articles for Ananda Bazar Patrika and other news papers. As a student of Journalism & Mass Communication of Calcutta University I was associated with the preparation of a short documentary film ‘Colledge Streeter Itihas’
