[edit] Her exit

Why is she leaving MSNBC? -Amit, 04/02/07

Her contract was not renewed. I had put this on her page, but it was removed (perhaps by a fan). 72.94.95.190 22:15, 19 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Her career: a plea for fairer, better-quality contributions

Someone who is familiar with Cosby's work, please add some details of her most famous interviews. That would help someone like me to glean useful information (that's the point here, right?) I depend on Wikipedia, since I have no TV and hadn't heard of her at all until today.

I was disappointed to see that while everyone's arguing about her voice, the comments on her career are left without even basic editing help. The one about her interview with the Jacksons doesn't even scan grammatically. Since I know nothing about the situation, I can't fix it, though I suspect it should end with something like "was being announced." Maybe I'll go look it up and change it. [Done.]

Meanwhile, I'd like to remind folks that it is not fair to treat female news professionals as if they are gossip-rag targets while treating males as professionals. This includes deciding what counts as relevant. Why is Cosby's brother relevant? (I removed his mention; if you feel there's reason to include him, you can add him back with that relevant info.) I did an informal perusal of news anchors and newscasters in Wikipedia and see there is wide variation on personal info, though far more women than men get personal details--such as marriages, dating and kids--put in their bios. I found only one man with that info, and it was in a special "Trivia" section!

[edit] Trip to Iraq with the WWE

I think her trip to Iraq which I believe was in 2005, or it might have been in 2006 should be added to the article,You can pretty much find a source by typing her name in with wwe or add iraq in with wwe and rita cosby —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.156.178.76 (talk) 21:50, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Looking into this

Please relax for a few hours... --Jimbo Wales (talk) 20:15, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

Jimbo, I'm a bit confused as to why this was protected, seeing as how the only three edits this year have been to bring the article more into line with BLP. Huntster (t@c) 21:22, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fox News Channel

From 1995 to 2005, Cosby worked at Fox News. At Fox, she hosted both The Big Story Weekend Edition and Fox News Live with Rita Cosby.

She has interviewed more than a dozen world leaders, conducting historic back to back interviews with Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon. She was the first reporter to see prisoners held at Guantanamo Bay and even interviewed Serbian president Slobodan Milošević who called her from his prison cell at the Hague. Years earlier, while broadcasting live from Belgrade during the NATO bombing, she broke the news that three American POWs were going to be released.

Cosby also made national headlines for her interviews with boxer Mike Tyson, singer Michael Jackson, and convicted serial killer David Berkowitz, "The Son of Sam," who wrote to her during the Washington, D.C. sniper shootings in October 2002. As that story unfolded, Cosby secured another major first, by reporting the names and license plate numbers of the sniper suspects. In 2001, Cosby's interview with flight attendant Anne Marie Smith, led to a U.S. Attorney's Office investigation of Rep. Gary Condit for obstruction of justice and witness tampering.

Cosby served as a lead reporter during the 1996 and 2000 Presidential campaigns. During the Monica Lewinsky investigation, she broke the news that President Bill Clinton was going to be subpoenaed to testify before the grand jury.

Cosby rose to weekend anchor and senior correspondent.
