[edit] Ride experience

Rita - Queen of Speed was Alton Towers' new addition for the 2005 season. The ride starts with the train rolling forward from the station area, and a man's voice saying "Keep your heads back and hold on tight, we're counting down! Get those engines revving!... go go GO!!" The train is then accelerated from 0-100km/h in 2.2 seconds, and negotiates high speed corners and airtime hills before then reaching the brake run parallel with the station. Rita has received bad reviews due to the extremely long queues and the short length of the ride, yet many enthusiasts agree it was a great addition to Alton Towers.

[edit] Trivia

  • The name "Rita" is a backwards acronym of "Alton Towers Intamin Rocket".
  • Rita - Queen of Speed is the smallest rocket coaster Intamin has ever built.
