Rissho University (立正大学 Risshō Daigaku?) is a private university, with its main campus located in Osaki, an area of Tokyo's Shinagawa Ward in Japan.

Rissho University, having its roots in a religious institution of the Nichiren sect of Buddhism, commemorated in 2002 the 130th anniversary of its foundation. Today it expanded into a university with an enrollment of approximately 11,900 students. The University has 8 faculties with 14 departments for the undergraduate course and 6 research departments in the graduate school. These departments are designed to meet the challenges in the 21st century including settlement of environmental issues, promotion of information technology, internationalization and improvement of social welfare. Rissho University has been enthusiastic about accepting international students, and as of 2002, about 300 international students are enrolled.

[edit] Osaki Campus
The Osaki Campus is in Shinagawa Ward, a conveniently located district in Tokyo. In 1992 the Campus, with the area of over 2.2ha, was renovated to become a new intelligent campus with a 12-story research building, an administration building, classroom buildings, a library and Ishibashi Tanzan Memorial Auditorium. The daytime courses for juniors and seniors of the Faculties of Buddhist Studies and Letters and for all the students of the Faculties of Economics, Business Administration and Psychology as well as all the evening courses are conducted on this campus. Literary Research Department, Economics Research Department and Business Administration Research Department are also located on this campus. Approximately 5,900 undergraduate and graduate students study here. The Comprehensive Academic Information Center building, which will serve as the center for information-oriented education at the University is now under construction to be opened in December 2003.
[edit] Kumagaya Campus
The Kumagaya Campus is located in Kumagaya City of Saitama Prefecture, approximately 60 km northwest of Tokyo, and linked to the metropolis by both JR Takasaki Line and Tobu Tojo Line. The spacious 35 ha campus, abundant in greenery, provides a comfortable studying environment with classroom buildings, experiment buildings, a gymnasium, a library, a museum, several kinds of grounds, various welfare facilities for students and parking lots. This campus houses Faculties of Law, Social Welfare and Geo-Environmental Sciences and their Research Departments, as well as the daytime Liberal Arts Courses for freshmen and sophomores of the Faculties of Buddhist Studies and Letters. Approximately 6,000 undergraduate and graduate students study on this campus.
