Rio Rico Southwest is a census-designated place (CDP) in Santa Cruz County, Arizona, United States. The population was 2,777 at the 2000 census.

Rio Rico Southwest is located at 31°27′2″N, 111°0′20″W (31.450522, -111.005512)[1].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 19.2 square miles (49.7 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 2,777 people, 726 households, and 675 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 144.6 people per square mile (55.8/km²). There were 749 housing units at an average density of 39.0/sq mi (15.1/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 70.94% White, 0.43% Black or African American, 0.97% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.11% Pacific Islander, 24.05% from other races, and 2.77% from two or more races. 85.13% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.

There were 726 households out of which 66.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 81.3% were married couples living together, 8.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 7.0% were non-families. 5.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 1.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 3.83 and the average family size was 3.97.

In the CDP the population was spread out with 40.0% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 33.1% from 25 to 44, 15.1% from 45 to 64, and 5.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 28 years. For every 100 females there were 95.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males.

The median income for a household in the CDP was $36,484, and the median income for a family was $35,677. Males had a median income of $29,677 versus $16,686 for females. The per capita income for the CDP was $11,763. About 9.7% of families and 12.2% of the population were below the poverty line, including 13.5% of those under age 18 and none of those age 65 or over.
