Ring a Ding Ding

Ring a Ding Ding was the third single from Brakes. A bona-fide catchy pop song the tune was soon getting regular plays on alternative music stations such as 6Music where it made their playlist. The song is jangly pop music with a repeating riff. At a little over 90 seconds long it was a challenger to Super Furry Animals' crown for having the shortest single in the UK top 40 but eventually missed out on a placing. It was released to coincide with the band's first major UK tour which lasted over two weeks and encompassed 14 performances. It was backed with two new recordings and "Jackson", a song which also appears in the same form on their debut album. "Shut Us Down" is a cover of a song by Camper Van Beethoven and "If I Should Die Tonight" is a tender ballad. This track, here just in its demo form, went on to feature on Brakes' 2006 album The Beatific Visions. The video features the band playing to audience of vampires as their blood drains away in reference to the title of their album, "Give Blood".
