Rincón de los Sauces (English:Place of the willows) is a first category municipality and the capital city of Pehuenches Department located in Neuquén Province, Argentina.

The city area was populated by colons between the ending od XIX century and the start of the XX until the flood of the Barrancas river, due to the destruction of several structures and the population decreased. After the flood, the main activity in the zone was based on cattle rising. In 1965 Yacimientos Petrolíferos Argentinos found petroleum on Puesto Hernández, after the discovery the population grew and oN December 20, 1970 the town was officially established.

The town was declared national capital of energy[1] , Rincón de los Sauces has important reserves of petroleum and natural gas, 50% of the national reserve.
