Ring-necked pheasant (Phasianus colchicus)

Image Number 95cs3626 - CD2289-026
Note deformed beak. This may be due to infection with parasitic mites but usually looks rougher. Other common causes are genetic or metabolic abnormality. Especially in P- colchicus, scarring from gunshot injury cannot be excluded.
The bird is apparently otherwise healthy and in breeding condition (note large and dark red eye wattles)
