His story serves as a tragic morality tale for Japanese children. He is a brown bear who lives in the house of an office lady (OL) named Kaoru. Rilakkuma has been increasing in popularity since his debut in 2003.

So... what is his story, and how is it a tragic morality tale? Is it teaching children the abject misery that waits for them if they grow up to live with office ladies, or what untold misfortune will surely come to them if they themselves should increase in popularity? - Tenmiles 04:31, 28 September 2007 (UTC)
