[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Deancrashinto.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Deancrashinto.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 22:55, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Copyright problems

Hello. Concerning your contribution, Dean Karr, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0440061/bio. As a copyright violation, Dean Karr appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. Dean Karr has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at Talk:Dean Karr and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Dean Karr with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on Talk:Dean Karr.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. Thank you. --Finngall talk 04:56, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Thank you and Help Me

Per Dean Karr, the notability is borderline due to his short credits list on imdb; I'd say just try to write the bio as best you can, and include links to news articles that talk about him- if, for example, he's been interviewed by a newspaper. That will help satisfy the requirement of notability (WP:N). JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 20:19, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Dean Karr

It's definitely an improvement, but there's a problem- you didn't cite the source of it. See WP:CITE. I'm assuming you got it from a website, so be sure to include that. To survive AfD you'd still want to demonstrate some press coverage. JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 20:55, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

It will just be up to the community to determine if he's notable. I think there's probably enough for the article to survive the AfD. Also, keep in mind that print sources can be cited- see WP:Citing sources/example style. JeremyMcCracken (talk) (contribs) 04:40, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:CrashIntoMe.jpg)

⚠

Thanks for uploading Image:CrashIntoMe.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shell babelfish 07:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:DaughtryVideoShoot.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:DaughtryVideoShoot.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shell babelfish 07:30, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Slugfest.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Slugfest.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Shell babelfish 07:32, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: needin more help

In regards to images, they're either copyrighted or not. If they are copyrighted, Wikipedia can only use them if the fall into "Fair use", which legally means they can be reproduced even though they're copyrighted. The images in question are borderline usable, since the article is about Dean, not the videos/songs that the captures come from. For the video stills, you haven't provided a rationale for fair use at all, so you'll need to do that by editing the image page. For the slugfest pic, it looks like you've added criteria, but someone thinks it's not good enough. Take a look at WP:NFCC and try to put fair use criteria into the images.
