As I am writing mostly about Thai topics I really enjoy your additions to these articles, especially all those things which cannot be found in English yet, like the histories of the Khet/Amphoe. When I try to write such an article it so difficult to research with my nearly nonexistent knowledge of Thai. Some useful links for these may be Portal:Thailand, Wikipedia:Thailand-related topics notice board, Wikipedia:WikiProject Thai districts and List of Thailand-related topics. andy 11:25, 8 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks, andy. I've been a lurker for a while now, and I'm finally getting involved. It's hard to adapt without errors to the style and conventions which you and others have already developed for all the Thai pages, so be bold in editing my articles. I'm trying to be bold in creating them. I'm a decent copycat, so I made a navigation box for Amphoe of Yasothon, and I'm trying my best to keep the style consistent. Let me know any bad habits I have so I can curb them early. I'm very open to guidance and assistance. I also have contributed a bit on the Thai Wikipedia, mostly with interlinking and whatnot, as I don't trust myself to write actual content in the language. Thanks for the welcome! rikker04 14:12, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Those Amphoe article you created are already very good. The only thing I would change after the quick look is the sorting in the category - you'd have to do something like [[Category:Amphoe Khlang|Khlang]], as otherwise all is sorted by the letter A. For the photos of the district offices I would prefer them to be our own photos (there are a few at Commons) and avoiding to use anything copyrighted. For the tambon table I usually also include the number of villages and the population (see e.g. Amphoe Mueang Surat Thani), but when I don't have enough time I also do the plain table like you did. BTW: Feel free to suggest changes to the style of these articles in the Wikiproject - the style is not fixed, it's just what was so far the consensus of the few Wikipedians active in the project. andy 11:24, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I once lived in Mueang Yasothon for several months, so I figured I'd jump in there. Thanks for the tip on category sorting--I couldn't figure out how to get it to do that.

As for district office pictures, you're right. Now, I'm sure you know better than I do: are government works copyrightable in Thailand? In the U.S. they're automatically public domain, so I ask. But looking around at some of the images of official seals and things, it seems like they must be copyrightable. Anyhow, I won't be in Yasothon anytime soon, so we can always get rid of those pictures if they're inessential. I'm pretty sure I don't have any of my own, but maybe I do for other parts of Yasothon.

With population tables, I've copied your style on a couple of the Amphoe. See Sai Mun, for example. Although I did change Nr. to No., because No. is the standard abbreviation for "Number" in English, assuming that's what Nr. is supposed to stand for. Is that something I should mention on the project? I haven't studied the style too closely, but I should, before I get even further off. I think Sai Mun has the most info of any of them, even though I'd like to turn the economy section into real content, not just lists.

Finally, do you think the list of Nai Amphoe should still go on the main page when it's quite long, as with the older Amphoe like Mueang Yasothon itself, which has a history as an Amphoe back before Yasothon became a province? If so, I'll put that info up. Oddly, this morning I'm getting a broken link to the Amphoe Mueang page on yasothon.go.th. sure hope that comes back up! rikker04 13:34, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Any photos you have which would fit into an article - even if it not yet written - can be uploaded to commons. Of course the district offices aren't the most popular things to take photos, especially as they usually look quite similar to each other. I did a few for fun last time in Thailand, hoping others may help to fill it. For the Nr. vs No. - seems like the Nr. used in German did slip into my template. I will at least use the correct one from now, the existing ones can be changed with time as well. Right now I am quite busy to fill the short Amphoe articles of User:Oatz into a bit more complete ones. Which sections a "complete" Amphoe article should have isn't fixed yet, so far I rarely found enough info to do much more than a short geography and history section, and the tabular things like the tambon list. The outline in the project is more like a suggestion, it's not a fixed one which needs to be followed in every case. For the Nai Amphoe I rarely found these lists before (the govenors of the provinces are also only rarely listed anywhere online, seem like the Yasothon website is one of the better ones), for those in Surat Thani (my focus province) I found some lists, but most apparently not up-to-date, so I haven't yet added them. We can do similar like I did for the province infobox - list the current Nai Amphoe with an optional field infobox, and if present link to articles like List of district officers of Sai Mun (like the List of governors of Surat Thani). As the Nai Amphoe are reshuffled similar often like the province governors the lists will get long quite fast anyway. andy 20:41, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
