Rigsy

Rigsy (born December 6th, 1978), real name David O'Reilly[1] is a TV/radio presenter and D.J from Newcastle, Northern Ireland. He has one sister; Karen and one brother; Mark.

He has presented Across The Line on BBC Radio Ulster for six years and over 30 episodes of ATL TV on BBC Two Northern Ireland. Recently, Rigsy began presenting Across The Line solo, having previously worked alongside Donna Legge.[2]

In six years at the BBC, Rigsy has interviewed many well known and respected acts and musicians, including Noel Gallagher, Pete Doherty, Jarvis Cocker, Ian Brown, Muse, Franz Ferdinand, Primal Scream, The Killers, The Chemical Brothers, The Flaming Lips, Underworld and Steve Coogan. He has also presented BBC 2 Northern Ireland's coverage of Tennants Vital and ATL Rockschool in 2006 and 2007.

Rigsy has also worked on many projects outside of the BBC, recently hosting the Choice Music Prize (Ireland's answer to the Mercury Music Prize) in Dublin.[3] In early 2007 he was nominated in the media personality category at the Northern Ireland Fate Awards. As a journalist, Rigsy cutting worked alongside Colin Murray at Blank Magazine and BBM at the end of the 1990s, before contributing to the NME (as Northern Ireland correspondant for two years), Alternative Ulster and Radar Magazine. He has also performed with a Northern Irish band called Roque Junior, taking to the stage at venues such as the Ulster Hall and The Ambassador, Dublin.

Rigsy is also a DJ, co-promoting "Sketchy" at The Stiff Kitten, while residing at the "Shag" student disco every week at The Limelight, Belfast.[4] He was also, until recently, a resident at Shine, Belfast, alongside his producer at the BBC, Paul McClean.
