Rigging refers to:
- Masts and lines on ships and other sailing vessels, see rigging.
- Oars, Oarlocks, Outriggers, and other paraphernalia on a rowing boat, see Glossary of rowing terms.
- Temporary structures such as stages built at rock concerts, gatherings, theatre productions, and other events where temporary structures are made from hollow structural steel for use in event production.
- Setting up Aerial Rigging for Circus aerial acts (trapeze, Spanish web, etc)
- Securing heavy machinery and other loads, especially for transport.
- Field Rigging - when crane operators, riggers and rigging superintendents design and execute the heavy transportation and heavy lifting on a construction project.
- Use of a fly system in a theater to move lighting, scenery, or other items.
- Vote rigging is an electoral fraud.
- Rigging in contests is when the results are maliciously changed because of bias.
- Rigging (Skeletal Animation) in Computer Graphics identifies the set of activities implied to set up complex controls over a three dimensional object (usually characters). The idea is similar to creating cords and constraints to control a puppet. (See also Inverse kinematics)
