[edit] Appearances

[edit] Saw II

Rigg first appeared as a SWAT sergeant in Saw II, in which he assisted detectives Allison Kerry and Eric Matthews to infiltrate Jigsaw's lair to arrest him. However, once Eric was put in a test, Rigg and Kerry stayed to help him through it. Rigg seemed to know both Kerry and Eric personally, as he blocked off Kerry from stopping Eric as he began brutalizing Jigsaw, which he encouraged. When Eric and Jigsaw suddenly escaped the lair to find Eric's son, who had been kidnapped for Eric's test, Rigg and his SWAT team attempted to find a house being used to trap numerous people, one of which was Eric's son. They raided a house, where they had been led to believe the victims were being held. Instead, they quickly learned that what they had been witnessing on the monitors in Jigsaw's lair of the game unfolding was actually a video recording and not actually happening at that exact moment.

[edit] Saw III

Rigg appeared again in Saw III briefly with Kerry and Detective Hoffman while investigating the remains of Troy, who had died in an explosion.

[edit] Saw IV

Lieutenant Rigg returned for Saw IV as a main character, first being seen with Hoffman as he and his team discovered Detective Kerry's corpse. After being sent home to take a break from the case, Rigg's wife Tracy left the house to visit her mother, leaving Rigg home alone. After waking up, he was knocked out and put into a series of tests, in which he was led to numerous locations and forced to reconsider Jigsaw's ideals by kidnapping, testing, helping, saving, and ultimately judging victims. This led to the deaths of Brenda, Ivan, and Art, as well as Eric Matthews, who had been missing for six months following the events of Saw II. Rigg ultimately failed his test and was then left in the room of his final test, with the corpses of Art and Eric, by Hoffman. Rigg was severely bleeding, having been shot by Detective Matthews to prevent him from opening a door that would kill Matthews. According to officialsaw.com (the official website of the series) Rigg is infact dead, however in the next film (Saw V) they may bring him back.

[edit] Lyriq Bent

When asked what to expect of his character in the fourth movie, Lyriq Bent said, "Detective Rigg has really come into himself. In Saw II, he was really the strong, silent type that really didn't know what was going on around him. You had a sense that there was something going on with him internally, and I think that sparked a lot of curiosity in the audience. They wanted to know, 'Who is this guy, and what's he all about?' In Saw IV, you get to find out who he is, and what he's all about, and how he feels about the situation that he's in, and how he feels about the type of work that he's in and people and all that. And I think he's a character that people are gonna like, because they can relate to him on so many different levels. He's a real person. In Saw IV, you get to go on a journey with him, and it's pretty much an emotional journey. At the end, I only hope that the audience will be as exhausted and worn out as he is, because he becomes this broken man."[1]
