[edit] Geologic formations

Nice work - I was already toying with the notion of rounding up these guys - there's a bit of work going on on these lines within the WikiProject Dinosaurs (Wikipedia:WikiProject Dinosaurs/formations). There is a bunch of Formations without articles (i.e. giving ugly red links!). I was going to try to assemble a list of them (dinosaur-fossil-bearing ones, at least) but haven't yet done so - can you contribute? - Ballista 05:38, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Hello Ballista. I noticed that there were many with paleontology categories in addition to plain geology since they contained fossils. I can work on the Coon Creek Formation which is a famous formation here in Tennessee for producing mosasaurs. Its only begun and the only limit is Wikipedia's acceptance of all these formations, some as minor as they may be. -- Riffsyphon1024 05:45, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
    • Additionally, I was wondering if the formations needed subcategorizing into Formations by continent, or do the Geology of so-and-so categories cover that already? -- Riffsyphon1024 05:50, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
I reckon current cats probably OK - do you agree? I don't think there'd be any problem with acceptance of small stubs, anyway, |I've never run into problems of that sort. Look forward to seeing Coon Creek appearing soon. It sounds good. Loved Tennessee, when I was there. Thanks - Ballista 19:56, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
P.S.: Just seen you've been 'at' a few 'formation' articles - great stuff thanks. - Ballista 20:21, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Austin Peay State University

Is this how I respond? Sorry I just signed up today and I'm still learning. Hah. I attended APSU from January 2000 'til my graduation in December of '03. I worked as an RA there for my last two years there. I changed "dormitories" to "residence halls," and noted the type (male/female/co-ed), I clarified the Titan's information, and I noted the "Show us your Peayness" cheer. Umm, I think that's all. Are(were?) you a student there? user:latnam July 20th, '06

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Lovehatetragedy.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Lovehatetragedy.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 07:18, 28 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Vermillion Cliffs

Please view Navajo Bridge, and if you determine that the cliffs in the background are actually the Vermilion Cliffs, could you please add a comment to the image title with cross-link? Thanks, Leonard G. 01:53, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

  • It doesn't appear to be the same to me, but I only wikified the Vermilion Cliffs article. I haven't specialized in its geology just yet. -- Riffsyphon1024 04:01, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

you clould still think of an alternate timeline. It isn't a concept currently being pusued by NASA- It is completley privatley funded and the building and research for the project will cost less than the development (not including the building) of the space shuttle. [[user:valento}}

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Mrfusion.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mrfusion.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Elizabeth Hasselbeck.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Elizabeth Hasselbeck.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rossrs 08:52, 18 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image:JimmyKimmel.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:JimmyKimmel.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 06:07, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Non-free use disputed for Image:Jek porkins.jpg

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Jek porkins.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 07:24, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:We_Are_Not_Alone.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:We_Are_Not_Alone.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. [edit] Redirect of Imperial Navy Troopers

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Imperial Navy Troopers, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Imperial Navy Troopers is a redirect to a non-existent page (CSD R1).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Imperial Navy Troopers, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. [edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Aldebaran.PNG

A tag has been placed on Image:Aldebaran.PNG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. [edit] Proposed deletion of Nar Shaddaa

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nar Shaddaa, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached.
