[edit] Welcome
Hello Rideinspection, and welcome to Wikipedia! We're really glad you've chosen to sign up for an account; it offers numerous benefits in case you weren't already aware of them.
Thankyou for your contributions if you've been editing before you got this message. If you haven't, don't worry: there are numerous ways you can contribute to Wikipedia if you're not sure where to start yet. Either way, we hope you'll like the place and decide to stay. We all remember what it's like to be new, so don't let others scare you off.
[edit] Useful links
Here's some useful links that will help you get started.
- Wikipedia:How to edit a page - it's a lot easier than you might think.
- Tutorial - a collection of pages explaining the most important things for contributing to Wikipedia.
- Sandbox - the best place for trying things out. If previous edits you made to articles have been reverted because they were experimental or unconstructive, this is the place to make test edits.
- Wikipedia:Where to ask a question - Wikipedia has numerous places for you to put your questions and comments forward.
- Wikipedia:Five pillars - Wikipedia's official policies and guidelines are summarized here.
- Wikipedia:Manual of Style - our style guide outlines our standards for ensuring that we present information in a consistent manner that promotes cohesion and professionalism.
[edit] Contributing
With these references at hand, we hope you find it easier to contribute to Wikipedia. Here's a brief synopsis of some ways you can:
- We obviously wouldn't have an encyclopedia without articles. This page shows how you can help them grow.
- Removing vandalism and keeping the integrity of articles intact is a great way of contributing. More information on how to do so can be found here.
- Fixing typos, correcting poor grammar and repairing broken links are just some examples of useful, behind the scenes contributions. Even just making things look nice makes using Wikipedia more pleasant for everybody.
- If you like working with images, you might be interested in the Graphic Lab. Similarly, this page shows you how to work with images in Wikipedia articles.
- This page lists the many types of tasks you can do to maintain Wikipedia.
- There are numerous WikiProjects that aim to provide coordination and collaboration on particular subjects. From this list, you can join a project and contribute within an area that interests you.
Of course, there are many ways of contributing, but I hope that this message is helpful to you, and that you'll enjoy editing Wikipedia and continue to do so. You can respond to this message by clicking here if you have a comment or need help - don't forget to sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~), or you can place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and write your query there. Again, welcome to Wikipedia! WilliamH (talk) 16:43, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:NAARSO.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:NAARSO.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? [edit] Images
Hi! Please don't overwrite images that are in use with other images as you did here. If you're uploading images and this happens, the system asks you to choose another name and it's best if you do. Thanks! ➨ ЯEDVEЯS looks at danger and laughs his head off 10:36, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- While I'm here: I'm sorry, but our rules on images don't allow non-free media (logos and so forth) to be used on user pages. I've removed the images you were using for you. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. Thanks! ➨ ЯEDVEЯS looks at danger and laughs his head off 10:39, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

- Hi again. You put one of the images straight back. Please stop. We don't allow fair-use images on user pages. I've removed it again. ➨ ЯEDVEЯS looks at danger and laughs his head off 10:43, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
no worries thought it was me not editing correctly, sorry
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:NAFLIC 1.gif
Thank you for uploading Image:NAFLIC 1.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 21:45, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Cares.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Cares.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 21:45, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Speedy deletion of "Leisure technical consultants"
A page you created, Leisure technical consultants, has been tagged for deletion, as it meets one or more of the criteria for speedy deletion; specifically, it is about a company or organization, but does not indicate why it is important or significant.
You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable inclusion guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article.
Thanks. Sceptre (talk) 15:13, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Move of your user page
Hi Rideinspection! I moved your user page back to your user space. The article you created in your user space wasn't suitable for Wikipedia in a number of ways (for instance, it wasn't an article, it was a list of resources - not something that Wikipedia does). Also, you moved your talk page, which has personal messages for you, not messages about the article.
Do you need help turning your user page into an article? One alternative might be our sister project Wikibooks; alternatively you might want to read the tutorial and the Wikipedia:Manual of Style for advice on how to write a Wikipedia-style article. Thanks! ➨ ЯEDVEЯS looks at danger and laughs his head off 09:10, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
