[edit] Exact locations

Can editors fluent in reading Chinese determine from a Web search exactly which counties/villages in Yunnan this was filmed? The captions say "Li Village" (李家村) and "Stone Village" (石头村), but I don't know where those are or if they're real place names. And which ethnic group(s) are featured? From the Chinese-language sources it seems to be the Naxi, but English-language sources don't treat the issue at all, perhaps believing everyone in China to be ethnically "Chinese." Most shooting for the film was done in the Shuhe Scenic Area (束河风景区, an ancient town turned tourist attraction) near the city of Lijiang. As far as i know, "Li Village" and "Stone Village" do not exist for real. Scenes for "Stone Village" were actually shot in Shigu Town (石鼓镇), in the Yulong Naxi Autonomous County. Residents are predominantly the Naxi people. Here's a link you might find useful: [1] --Plastictv 23:11, 6 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Great Movie / Great Article

Im surprised this movie is not so well known in the states. The Asian drama genre usually takes a backseat to martial-arts fils, howver this is a fine example of a movie that would have probably done well if released. Very powerful story and also does a good job of potraying both chinese and Japanese culture in a fine way 65.163.203.130 19:37, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
