[edit] Your map of British accents
Just to be clear (as my comments on Talk:British English weren't very diplomatic) well done for creating the map in the first place — it's far more than I'd have bothered doing. I really don't mean to belittle your hard work by nitpicking over its accuracy. :o) — OwenBlacker 17:04, Aug 31, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Friends trivia link survey
I've automatically added your name against the survey on Talk:Friends. Please refrain from putting the link back in until more people have shown their opinion. We can then decide whether to include the link or not. violet/riga (t) 08:57, 5 Sep 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Your map
Image:Selected_languages_and_accents_of_the_british_isles2_rjl.jpg
Hi Ricjl, the German-language wikipedia got a question from a state educational agency that would like to use your map in a book distributed to around 600 schools in Germany. The problem is that the GFDL (under which the image is licensed) requires to print the full license along with the picture - something more or less impossible for printed products (as easy as a link in online products is). My question: would you mind also licensing the image under a CC-by-sa license, which would only require to attribute the image to you as an author but not to print a nightmare of red tape along with it? That would be great. For that, you'd only have to insert {{CC-by-2.0}} or a similar license of your choice from Wikipedia:Copyright tags in the description page. --AndreasPraefcke 28 June 2005 10:15 (UTC)
- Done :) Is there any way I could see the book? (ricjl 28 June 2005 17:11 (UTC))
- Thanks a lot. I'll try my best to beg for a copy for you... :-) --AndreasPraefcke 28 June 2005 17:28 (UTC)
- Wow thank you!!
- I just uploaded an improved version, you aught to use that. (ricjl 28 June 2005 18:14 (UTC))

[edit] Black Country
Please could you add the Black Country dialect to your map. It is one of very few English dialects. It is very different from the Brimingham accent and outside it's hartland, is is the accent of most of North Worcestershire as far south a Worcester and has a similar effect on the other counties which surround it east of Birmingham. This means that it is probably spoken to a greater or lesser degree by more than a million people Philip Baird Shearer 10:50, 15 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Make pov history band welsh.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a free image could reasonably be found or created. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add {{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
- On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Quadell (talk) (random) 22:42, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hello - and an invite to the Environmental Record Taskforce
Hi Ricjl - I noted your contributions to People and Planet. I researched and developed the Go Green campaign back in 2003 for them and still have a hand in the campaign. Oddly enough, I went to York too - and took Environmental Biology and Environmental Management, which was one of the two predecessor courses of EEE. I was SU Environment Officer for two years there. I see you are intending to work on the Camp for Climate Action. I didn't make it to the Climate Camp itself (other than fifteen minutes), but I did go on the march on Sunday. I was right at the front for much of the time - appalling behaviour from the police. I've never felt so oppressed in my life - and I've been to more demos than I can easily recall...
Anyway, other than saying hello, I have an invitation:
You are being recruited by the Environmental Record Task Force, a collaborative project committed to accurately and consistently representing the environmental impact of policymakers, corporations, and institutions throughout the encyclopedia. Join us! |
