[edit] Scout spam

Clearly this edit deserved a speedy rollback but I would be inclined to allow them this much, in the hope that they will be satisfied and go away. -- RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 08:37, 13 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] phatfish... again

mate im only trying to help wikipedia by expanding it. just because a christian band might not be as big as the rolling stones doesnt mean they arent notable. phatfish are available to buy on hmv and amazon, they have huge hits on google, have played inernationally. maybe not on the secular but certainly on the christian scene they are very well known. i accept the article phatfish and lou fellingham tour i created isnt wikified, i am new to wikipedia and cant for the life of me work out how to do that little thing where you have a link to the source like [1], [2] next to each statement. also, do i put one next to EACH statement? because certainly on other articles i havent seen this. isnt there meant to be an element of trust on this site, where people post things and you let it through because its just true, theres no denying the fact? maybe instead of marking this article you could help me or encourage others to help it to become more wikified, or explain how to do it. but its certainly notable, just like u2s elevation tour i think this tour, maybe only with 8 shows, should be on wikipedia because its fact and fact that might be useful to someone out there. cheers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.233.235.165 (talk) 18:22, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

Please read the information on the links about notability of music. If you think the tour meets these criteria, and can provide reliable third-party sources, then please add the sources to the article. U2 and The Rolling Stones are mentioned in many publications, which makes them notable. Are there any reviews of Phatfish's tours? If you have a conflict of interest with the band, such as being the promoter, then you should be wary of writing about the band.
Adding a {{notability}} tag doesn't mean the article will be deleted — it is there to encourage the author, or others, to add proof of notability to the article. It's equally valid to add the {{db-bio}} tag if there's no demonstrated notability, in which case it could be deleted in hours.
I can advise on wikification, or you can learn from the formatting changes to the article. The {{wikify}} tag is there so that it gets wikified eventually and doesn't get forgotten. There's currently a delay of about a year, but not everything is done in order.
Finally, don't take it personally, I'm going on the content in the article. I don't have a particular view on the band/artist/tour itself. Rich257 (talk) 08:03, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

yeah there are plenty of reviews about the tours, so i will look around for sources. i am not a promoter at all, dont worry about that, i live in the opposite end of the country! the band regularly appear on bbc1, have toured the usa, canada and europe, worked alongside artists such as matt redman, tim hughes, martyn layzell, chris tomlin, all who are big names in the christian music industry. yeah, they arent rolling stones, but in their own category, they are notable. ill try and prove it with some sources, but just give me a chance as noone else seems to be bothered about helping. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.233.235.165 (talk) 13:02, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Great, add some sources. Please note that even though the band, and/or it's members, may be notable that doesn't necessarily mean that the tour is notable. Rich257 (talk) 14:11, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

i mean we could merge it with the phatfish article, but i havent filled the info on the faithful tour in, and then theres the truth tour which was phatfishs biggest http://www.phatfish.net/phatfisharchive.html what do you think? like we could have a section on phatfishs main article "Tours" but then where would we put the dates, surely people might want to see where they went and when? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Design junkie (talkcontribs) 14:47, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, sounds like a good idea. Either put the tour information on the band's page, or if the page is becoming too long, have one article with all the tour information on. Rich257 (talk) 15:32, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

has this been done before? u got any examples that i can take inspiration off lol. i always do when i create a new article, thanks would i call it Phatfish Tours?

I'm not aware of any similar, but I'm sure there are. Perhaps "Phatfish tours" without the second capital since it's not a proper name. Rich257 (talk) 19:24, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding Gerland's Food Fair and Food Town

I wonder if a local grocery store chain (A grocery store chain with multiple locations within a metropolitan area) would be notable. I notice that Gerland's Food Fair was prodded and deleted (with no challengers) - And I found Food Town (Houston) which is a sub-brand of Gerland's. WhisperToMe (talk) 15:11, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

There's certainly no evidence of notability in the article. If you think it should be kept then perhaps try and add some, or if you think it should go then add a {{prod}} tag. If no-one is bothered about the article then it will go. Rich257 (talk) 19:24, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
I decided to try this: Gerland Corporation - The company also operates some gas stations (attached to grocery stores) and check cashing stores - I think it is notable because it is a chain in a large metropolitan area. WhisperToMe (talk) 00:51, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Forage

Thanks for helping me out with the format on the "forage" page. What do you think of its content? Gabacho2 (talk) 20:12, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] The Fax Machine Monster of Basildon

Hi. Just to let you know that I have replaced your PRODs on The Fax Machine Monster of Basildon and The Typistry Terror with this AfD, and bundled with them the article about their alleged creator Roger Hinds - he may be real, but most of the article is about the hoax books. I thought the PRODs would probably be challenged and we might as well get it over with. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:39, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Not editing in good faith

Stop the incessant prodding. Why don't you add to the article or simply say what you feel it need to be notable. At this point you're acting like a vandal. If you really don't like the article, then AfD it and let the community decide. Otherwise, leave the article alone. --evrik (talk) 14:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

Which article would this be? If you are talking The Cherry Street Tavern then I haven't prodded it, instead I added a {{notability}} tag, which another editor has also added. Criteria for notability are detailed in the links on the tag, please read them. All articles have to be notable, this one is not an exception. Tagging is not vandalism. If you'd rather it were deleted rather than having the chance to show its notability then that's fine by me. Rich257 (talk) 07:50, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
  • My apologies about getting the name of the template incorrectly. I meant {{notability}}. --evrik (talk) 17:00, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
