My name is Rick Beebe. I live in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, California. I am a graduate of Wesleyan University and am retired from Bank of America, where I did editorial and media relations work for many years. My interests include backpacking, classical choral music, and the sport of competitive swimming, in which I am involved as an official and as a webmaster.

The link I just provided will take you to the home page for the journal for my 600-mile Appalachian Trail section hike in 2002, but there are also links on the left-hand navbar of this page to journals for other hikes I've done, including thru-hikes of the John Muir Trail, Tahoe Rim Trail, Tour du Mont Blanc, and Wonderland Trail.

As I become more involved in Wikipedia, I expect that most of my contributions will relate in some way to my primary areas of interest -- most specifically, backpacking and hiking. Since I enjoy editorial work and since I have already begun to exhibit WikiGnome-like tendencies in some of the contributions I have already made, I may find myself getting more widely involved in the future.
